Why your Shopify store gets traffic but no sales

Five findable reasons a Shopify store gets visitors but few orders, and how to fix each one in order of revenue impact.

If your store gets steady traffic but the orders never match, the cause is almost never a mystery. In my experience auditing stores, it is one of five things, and they are all findable.

1. The product page answers the wrong questions

Shoppers decide on the product page. If it leads with your brand story instead of price, shipping time, sizing and proof, they leave to check a competitor and never come back.

2. Shipping costs appear too late

Unexpected costs at checkout are the single biggest reason carts get abandoned. Show shipping early, even a simple estimate.

3. The site is slower than you think

You browse your store on fast wifi with a cached version. Your customer is on a phone. Test it there.

4. Navigation matches your catalog, not your customer

Collections organised by supplier or internal category force shoppers to translate. Organise by how they search.

5. No reason to trust you yet

Reviews, clear policies and a real about page are not decoration. For a first-time visitor they are the whole decision.

Fix these in order of impact, measure each change, and the revenue usually follows the traffic.
